Makiko Matsui is GreenFaith’s Japan Program Associate. She received a master’s degree in religion and completed a doctoral program in Kokugakuin graduate school. She is qualified as a priest and curator. She has been researching Shinto shrines of Saitama from the Middle Ages to the early modern period. Shinto shrines have a great relationship with the natural environment. Her hobbies are piano music and calligraphy. She works with the Executive Director and Japan Senior Advisor to develop the curriculum and activity plans for the GreenFaith Japan Fellowship Program, and works with the Senior Advisor to organize meetings for religious youth with Diet members and local elected officials, and for managing the logistical needs for GreenFaith Japan program activities.
