Most consumers think that if something is sold in the marketplace it must be safe and adequately tested. However, of the 80,000 synthetic chemicals used in products today, very few have been tested for their effects on human health or the environment. In addition, there is no law mandating that companies list all ingredients on the label of their products.
Many of the substances used in common cleaning and pest products, as well as the numerous electronic gadgets that surround us, have been linked
to cancer, endocrine disruption, and respiratory problems, among other
ailments. And none of us are immune - studies have shown that chemicals from everyday products are in our bodies and bloodstreams (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention).
